A Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, and Nicholas Ray Signed Piece of Paper, 1954. Yes, the two all-time 1950s legends together on the same page (plus film director, Nicholas Ray)! On a small piece of tan-colored paper, signed in black ballpoint ink in the center by the three with Dean's 'J' slightly overlapping Marilyn's 'r' and 'l'. (Please note parts of Monroe's and Dean's autographs are light as the pen used seemed to be losing ink as they were signing.)
    4" x 5"

According to two books, the 1989 "Shelley II: The Middle of My Century" by Shelley Winters and the 1994 "The Unabridged James Dean: His Life & Legacy from A to Z" by Randall Riese, Monroe and Dean were both at a private screening of "On the Waterfront" sometime in early 1954. Monroe went with Winters and they sat next to film director Nicholas Ray who was with Dean (the two were likely working together on "Rebel Without A Cause" at the time). It seems plausible that this was where these autographs were obtained as Monroe, Dean, and Ray were probably never together again. Winters further recollected in her biography that after this screening, she and Monroe drove to Ray's bungalow at the Chateau Marmont and on the way, Dean was on his motorcycle playing chicken with them on the road, scaring and infuriating Winters.
