Description

A Marilyn Monroe Interesting Signed Contract, 1952. An eleven page contract between the actress and The Saalfield Publishing Co. of Akron, Ohio "to manufacture and sell play sets, puzzles and books, reproducing photographs and likenesses and using the name of the Licensor [Marilyn Monroe] on or in the same and such material...hereinafter referred to as 'Marilyn Monroe items'," dated "13th day of August, 1952," signed in blue fountain pen ink on page 9 by "Marilyn Monroe;" also included is a second copy of the same contract (though not signed by MM), and a 'Certificate of Registration' filled out by The Saalfield Publishing Co. noting the 'Title of Work' was "Marilyn Monroe Dolls and Dresses;" interesting to note that as early as 1952 before MM had made any of her 'significant' films, there was still a booming market for her likeness, just as there is today, 62 years later! (Please note that four pages of the contract display 'mat burn' when they were previously framed; other pages do not.)
