A Louis Armstrong Set of Signed Letters, 1954. Two total, both to Bob Wilson, a noted Big Band-era musician and evidently a good friend to Armstrong based on the content of the letters; the first one typed on personalized notepaper printed with "Satchmo," dated "May 27, 1954," sent to Wilson from Biloxi, Mississippi, a long, newsy letter where Armstrong discusses his gigs and musicians he was working with while purposely using funny jazz-bebop vernacular of the day such as "...Doo Hoo Hoo - how wrong can a chick get, huh? / Aw nuts...Goodnight pal... /...I feel just as silly-ass - Oh oh...Now I know I'm gone / P.S. I hate to jerk myself / but I'll come again...WOW.../ Duetch bagly yours," signed in turquoise fountain pen ink in the lower right corner "Louis Armstrong," included with its original transmittal envelope postmarked from Fort Worth, Texas; the second handwritten in blue ballpoint ink on the same notepaper, dated "Nov 4th, 1954," sent to Wilson from Sydney, Australia, reading in part "Dear Bob, / I am writing this letter between / concerts / ...Always remember you & Lei / are our two choice friends / in the world.../...I'll never forget how fine you / and Lei looked when you all / met us at the airport / ...the people down here / love us and our music very / much / ...Your boy / Louis Armstrong," included with its original transmittal envelope postmarked from Australia; also included is a telegram sent to Wilson, dated "1954 Nov 8 AM 9:21," reading in part "Thanks for everything pal You made my whole trip worth braggin about...your boy Satch Louis Armstrong;" overall, fun letters from one of the all-time great American musicians of the 20th century.
