A John Wayne Signed Original Charcoal and Pencil Drawing Related to the TV Special "An All-Star Tribute to John Wayne." ABC Television, 1976. Rendered on illustration board, depicting the star in a smiling headshot as he wears a tuxedo; signed in pencil by the artist on the right side "Werlin;" further signed by Wayne in black felt-tip ink in the lower left corner "John / Be happy / Duke;" 'John' being John Noel Beebe, the Director of Radio and Television Advertising for Sears in the 1970s who commissioned this drawing which was then used in all print advertising for this Sears-sponsored TV extravaganza that co-starred Duke's buddies like Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Bob Hope, Angie Dickinson, Lee Marvin, Ron Howard, Maureen O'Hara, James Stewart, and Claire Trevor, among many others; consigned directly by the family of Beebe. (Please note Wayne's signature is now very faded, there are slight indentations around Wayne's nose that can only be seen in raking light, there are several minor creases in the lower left corner, there is 'frame burn' on the front of the illustration board, and there is tape residue on the back of the board.)
