A Joan Crawford Collection of Signed Letters, 1942-1945. Nine total, ranging in date from "September 26, 1942" to "May 23, 1945," all typed on the star's personalized notepaper from her Bristol Avenue address in Brentwood, CA, all signed in black fountain pen ink "Joan Crawford," all sent to an "Arthur Farrer" who had met the star and started a correspondence with her, content of letters is mostly brief and newsy with Crawford usually plugging her latest film, including the last letter [dated "May 23rd, 1945"] reading in part "I finally completed "Mildred / Pierce", after working every day for five / months, and think it is the best story / I've ever had and the best picture I've / ever made;" also included are three vintage snapshots of Crawford with Farrer: one black and white one circa 1943, another black and white one circa 1945, and one color one circa 1956; the last of which inspired Crawford to handwrite a one page note (also in this lot) in blue ballpoint ink reading in full "I received the foto / How did you manage? / What planet is it from? / Who authorized you / to scare me that way? / I never saw anything / more horrible. / J."
