A Joan Crawford Collection of Signed Letters, 1940s-1970s. Twenty total, all sent to former 1930s child actor Billy Seay, ranging in date from 1943 to 1977, most on personalized stationery, most typed then signed in blue or black fountain pen or ballpoint ink by the star, a few have additional post scripts in her hand, all are relatively short with newsy content, though it did appear that the two thespians were actual friends and saw each other in person occasionally, throughout the correspondence, Crawford does mention interesting tidbits such as her dachshund named Pupschen, "Mildred Pierce," going to Carmel for a rest, getting two new five month old French poodles, her daughter Christina, "Autumn Leaves," "Baby Jane," and other subject matter related to her life, the last note is dated "January 15, 1977" where the star wishes Seay a "glorious" new year - sadly, one Crawford would not see to the end as she died on May 10, 1977; all have their original transmittal envelopes -- overall, a sweet group of letters that spanned the more than thirty years of their friendship. (Please note some of the letters are heavily stained due to age though others are still in good condition.)
