Description
A Jim Henson Set of Toothbrushes and Handwritten Notes, 1987. A red toothbrush by Oral B and a lime green one also by Oral B (with an image of Kermit the Frog on it); together with two notes; the first handwritten in blue felt-tip ink on Henson Associates, Inc. notepaper reading in part "Mark, / I'm sending / two - the one I've / just been using is the Kermit toothbrush.../Best wishes / Jim;" the second handwritten in blue felt-tip ink on personalized notepaper reading in part "Dear Mark - / Here's a toothbrush / of mine...Frogs - do not have / teeth - only toothbrushes / Kermit the frog;" donated by the puppeteer to artist Mark Schilder who used Henson's (and Kermit's) toothbrushes in his painting titled "Seven Days of Frowning," a work that received much media attention back in 1987 since he incorporated countless celebrity toothbrushes that had been donated to him into the actual work; also included is the original transmittal envelope with a Henson Associates, Inc. return label and a postmark reading "Aug 25 '87."Notes: 8" x 5"; Toothbrushes: 6"
Years later, Schilder decided to dismantle his work but salvaged the celebrity toothbrushes from it; because of this, there is glue residue on Henson's and Kermit's toothbrushes.
