A James Cagney Group of Signed Black and White Photographs, 1940s-1960. Five total, all original prints with a matte finish, four on double-weight paper; 1) the first depicting the star looking dapper as he sits on a chair, signed in black fountain pen ink on the lower margin "For Amy / Good luck always / Jim Cagney," verso has penciled annotations referencing JC's 1945 United Artists film, "Blood on the Sun;" 2) the second depicting the star with a wistful expression on his face, signed in blue ballpoint ink in the lower left corner "For Nick Sheets / Good luck / Jim Cagney;" 3) the third depicts the actor wearing a polkadot tie, signed in blue ballpoint ink in the lower left corner "For Dale Zamizar (sp?) / Best of luck / Jim Cagney;" 4) the fourth is sepia-tone, depicting the actor with an impish grin on his face, signed in blue ballpoint ink in the lower right corner "Good luck, John / Sincerely / Jim;" and the fifth depicting the still-handsome mature actor, signed in blue ballpoint ink on the lower left side "For Daniel Villeck / All the best / Sincerely / Jim Cagney;" all autographed for fans but evidently 'returned to sender' then filed away by Nora Helm, Cagney's longtime secretary.
