A Howard Hughes Signed Black and White Photograph, Circa 1930s. An original print with a glossy finish, depicting the eccentric industrialist and aviation pioneer standing next to an airplane, signed in black fountain pen ink on the lower margin "To 'Colonel' Turner / with best wishes and / the deepest admiration / and respect for you. / Howard Hughes."
    Framed: 11.5" x 9.5"; Photograph Only: 8" x 10"

Hughes used Roscoe Turner's Sikorsky S-29 as a stand-in for a German bomber in his 1930 United Artists film, "Hell's Angels," in addition to hiring him as a stunt pilot for the complex aerial scenes. This 1932 image of Hughes with his H-1 racer, along with such an uncommon inscription, stands as a unique gesture of respect from one aviator to another.
