A Highly Detailed Continuity Script from "The Lost Weekend." Paramount, 1945. Belonging to Marvin Weldon, an important script clerk on the film; housed in a large three-ring binder with olive green cloth covers, title page notes screenplay by Charles Brackett and Billy Wilder (both of whom signed a page in black fountain pen ink), dated "September 11, 1944," over 300 pages, all with heavy and comprehensive handwritten annotations in pencil about each and every bit of action in each and every scene throughout the whole film, interspersed throughout the binder are approximately 60 original print black and white photographs (both 8"x 10" and 4" x 5") showing mainly Ray Milland [as "Don Birnam"] but others as well in character from countless scenes, other photographs depict actual location shots of 1944-era New York City, back of binder has pages of elaborately detailed wardrobe continuity notes separated by typed tabs for each character like "Don / Wick / Nat / Mr. St. J / Gerrity / Albany / M.M.'s Friend / Men's Rm Attendant / Piano Player / Helen / Mrs. Foley / Mrs. St. J" et al., small black and white trimmed snapshots of those actors in costume are taped to the pages, other pages have both typed and handwritten notes about time lapses, set descriptions, synopses, and other specific information vital to making the film. One of the most elaborately detailed scripts that have come to the auction block, one could easily spend months reading this entire tome. Not surprisingly, this film noir classic won four Academy Awards: Ray Milland for 'Best Actor in a Leading Role,' Billy Wilder for 'Best Director,' Billy Wilder and Charles Brackett for 'Best Writing, Screenplay,' and Paramount Studios for 'Best Picture.' (Please note binder covers are dirtied and interior pages are yellowed due to age, but content is still intact.)
