A Hattie McDaniel Presentation Script Signed by David O. Selznick from "Gone With The Wind." Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1939. Maroon calf and cloth hardcover, film title embossed in gold on front and spine, further embossed "Hattie McDaniel" in gold on lower right corner of cover, golden-rod covers, screen play by Sidney Howard, dated "January 24, 1939," marked "Final Shooting Script," 256 pages, with eight original print (with a glossy finish) stills bound within, signed in blue fountain pen ink on the front free end paper "for Hattie McDaniel, / who contributed / so greatly! / with gratitude / and admiration. / David O. Selznick / Xmas, 1939;" Selznick famously gifted these specially-bound copies of the script to the main cast, crew, and consultants who worked on the film -- this one going to one of the of main stars who ended up winning an Academy Award for 'Best Actress in a Supporting Role.' Famously, Hattie McDaniel was the first African American to be nominated for and win an Oscar for her vital and beloved role of "Mammy." (Please note the front and back covers have come unbound, part of the spine is missing, there is further leather loss from the spine, and there is a circular stain on the lower left front cover.)
