A Gene Autry Signed Baseball July 10, 1982. A Rawlings Baseball with "Gene Autry" signature in blue ink. The inscription reads in full "To Buddy/Thanks for/your support/your partner/Gene Autry/7-10-82" The ball was inscribed to Christian Ludof Ebsen, Jr. better known as Buddy Ebsen, the actor who played Jed Clampett, Barnaby Jones, and was originally cast as the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz. The ball, which is presented nicely in a 360 degree display case, is accompanied by a hand written letter (11" x 8.5") from Buddy and Dorothy Ebsen, which describes the ball as "a priceless possession". The letter is heartfelt, as it describes his feelings as the news of Gene Autry's death was broken to him. A very personal piece, with great provenance. Display case measures 4" x 4" x 7.75". The ball has scuffs and appears to have been used prior to the signature. The letter has discoloration to the ink and has been stored folded. Good condition.
