A Celebrity Signed Cowboy Hat from the Movie Premiere of "Santa Fe Trail." Warner Bros., 1940. Made of tan felt, inside leather lining reads "El Rodeo," a faded red and yellow neckerchief printed with "Santa Fe Trail" is affixed to the base of the crown, a red ribbon pinned to hat is printed with "World / Premiere / Warner / Bros. / Santa / Fe / Trail / Santa Fe / New Mexico / Dec. 13, 14, 15 / 1940 / Guest," signed in graphite pencil on its entire surface by attendees at the event including Hoot Gibson, Frank McHugh, John Payne, Frances Robinson, Hyman Fink, Harry Rosenthal, and Ed Sullivan, among countless others who were likely behind-the-scenes industry people; additionally, a nametag is pinned to the crown reading "Jimmy Starr / L.A. Herald-Exp." -- the noted Hollywood screenwriter and later newspaper columnist who obtained all these signatures in person. (Please note there are a few moth holes throughout the hat.)
