(MGM, 1939) This 1938-edition of Gone with the Wind, by Margaret Mitchell, is signed by the entire main cast, producer David O. Selznick and director Victor Fleming of the Academy Award-winning classic of the same name. This was assistant director Eric G. Stacey's copy and is signed on the front endpapers, beginning with "David O. Selznick", below which is written in beautiful block script, "Presents Gone With The Wind Directed by" followed by "Victory Fleming". Below, the cast has signed neatly on ruled lines beside their respective character's name. Signatures include: Vivien Leigh "Scarlett O'Hara", Clark Gable "Rhett Buttler", Olivia de Havilland "Melanie Hamilton", Leslie Howard "Ashley", Barbara O'Neil "Ellen O'Hara", Thomas Mitchell "Gerald O'Hara", Hattie McDaniel "Mammy", Evelyn Keyes "Suellen", Ann Rutherford "Carreen" (misspelled "Careen"), Oscar Polk "Pork", Butterfly McQueen "Prissy", Laura Hope Crews "Aunt Pitty", Harry Davenport "Dr. Meade", Alicia Rhett "India Wilkes", Howard Hickman "John Wilkes", Carroll Nye "Frank Kennedy", George Reeves "Brent Tarleton", Fred Crane "Stuart Tarleton", Rand Brooks "Charles 'Chas' Hamilton", Ona Munson "Belle Watling", Victory Jory "Jonas Wilkerson", Marcella Martin "Cathleen Calvert", Isabel Jewell "Emmy Slattery", Everett Brown "Big Sam", Eddie Anderson "Uncle Peter", Leona Roberts "Mrs. Meade", Ward Bond "Tom - Yankee Captain", Mickey Kuhn "Beau - age 6". Stamped "Selznick International Pictures, Inc." on the front free endpaper below which is written in pencil "Copy #1". Dust jacket exhibits chipping and tears; edges on the grey cloth binding exhibit wear with slight toning on the signed pages. On July 31, 2012, Profiles in History sold a Gone With the Wind book signed by the cast for an astounding $132,000.
