Made of wood, stained an amber hue, carving on rim of right side of seat reads "Makeup," handwritten notation in black ink on bottom of foot rest reads "Make Up Dept," brass placard affixed to backrest reads "Marilyn Monroe," whole chair folds up so it can be easily carried. (Please note this piece shows signs of heavy wear with stain and wood loss, nicks and chips, and other surface dirt.)

The current owner inherited this chair many years ago from a now-deceased person so specific information is not known about its background, however, it is the typical kind of transportable make-up chair that was used on Hollywood film sets from the era; an image of Marilyn sitting on this or a similar chair is included with lot.
