A John Wayne Eye Patch from "Rooster Cogburn." Universal, 1975. Made of black leather/suede with fine wire mesh painted black that covers a cut-out hole (so Wayne could see); makeup residue still evident on the inside patch; one of many worn by Duke throughout the film as he portrayed the title character alongside Katharine Hepburn as the funnily named "Eula Goodnight;" included with lobby card #1 from the film. (Please note there are evident signs of use and wear on this piece.)
    Length: 30"; Lobby Card: 11" x 14"

Originally from Owen Marsh, a Hollywood cameraman; included with two documents from Marsh attesting to the eye patch's authenticity and provenance: the first a 1992 notarized COA where Marsh notes that this eye patch was "worn by John Wayne in...Rooster Cogburn;" the second a 2014 typed letter where Marsh outlines how "Gilly," a prop master who had just worked on "Rooster Cogburn," gave Marsh this eye patch to actually wear as Marsh had injured himself on the set of "Two-Minute Warning," the 1976 Universal film (starring Charlton Heston among many others) that he and "Gilly" were both working on at the time. Luster Bayless [Wayne's longtime costumer] crafted all these eye patches by hand for both "True Grit" and "Rooster Cogburn" so each one is slightly unique.
