Description

"Pepe the King Prawn" animatronic puppet from The Muppets' Wizard of Oz. (ABC-TV, 2005) Since their ingenious creation at the hands of Jim Henson in 1955 and their rise to international acclaim throughout the 1960s until today, the Muppet's have created some of the most endearing and beloved characters in the world. "Pepe the King Prawn" is a more recent, but no less lovable creation. This is an actual screen-used 24 in. tall animatronic "Pepe" Muppet. Constructed of vacuum formed shell torso armature covered from head to toe with knobby orange fleece fabric. Pair of legs and four arms dangle from the body with internal jointed wooden dowels inside the lower part of the legs and internal rigid forms to hold the shape of the hands. The infrastructure of the familiar head is also a vacuum formed jointed armature containing electronics to control the up and down and side to side movement of the head remotely. Mouth is spring-hinged to open (exposing snaggle-tooth and signature Muppet felt tongue) and snaps shut. With static eyes with felt irises and red felt eyelids. The signature twisted plume of red ostrich-feather strands are present along with the two antennas, crowning the head. The fabric in the back of the Muppet is split with snap closure to allow access to the cavity of the figure, which houses wiring and mechanisms for operating the animatronic Muppet. Electronics present but untested. Comes complete on a professional 14 in. oval wooden base with "Pepe" name plaque affixed. Exhibiting minor soiling and production-wear. In production used good condition. This represents one of only three Muppets we have ever handled. Special shipping arrangements will apply.
