20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (Buena Vista, 1954, R-1963, R-1971. Fine/Very Fine. Lobby Card Set of 8 (3) (11" X 14"), Insert (14" X 36"), British Quad (2) (30" X 40") and a Prop Newspaper (23" X 17") Bruce Bushman Artwork. This film version is by far the most popular version of Jules Verne's vision of the complex Captain Nemo and his dream of using science to fight the world's ills. James Mason gives an outstanding performance as Nemo, supported by a fine cast including Kirk Douglas, Paul Lukas, and Peter Lorre. Offered in this lot are lobby card sets from the original 1954 release and a set from the reissue of 1963 and an assortment of other cards. Also included is the folded insert to the 1963 release and folded British quads from 1976 and another undated 1970s, both in excellent shape. There is a near mint R-1971 one sheet. Finally, included is a reproduction of a newspaper prop as seen in the film. The newspaper is a replica of the paper examined by Professor Aronnax at the beginning of the film. It features an excellent cover story with imagery regarding a reported sea monster.
