"Liquid Swords," the second solo album by GZA, a member of the Wu-Tang Clan, was released on November 7, 1995, by Geffen Records. Recorded in RZA's Staten Island basement studio, the album is renowned for its dark ambiance, rich with samples from the film "Shogun Assassin," and its lyrics steeped in chess, crime, and philosophy themes, featuring appearances from all Wu-Tang members and affiliate Killah Priest. Upon release, it reached number nine on the Billboard 200 and number two on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, eventually achieving platinum status.
