The 1940 Gum Inc. Superman trading card set stands as one of the most iconic collections ever released, marking the superhero's inaugural set and holding the title as the most valuable among them. With Superman debuting just two years earlier in Action Comics #1, the desirability of this set was soaring as high as the Man of Steel himself. This set is comprised of 72 cards, with each card being relatively rare. However, the last 24 cards (#49-72) are recognized as short prints and are therefore even more scarce, often fetching higher prices than the more frequently encountered early numbers in the set.
