Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks Photo and Autograph Collection. A magnificent collection of vintage photographs featuring Hollywood pioneer Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. and his wife, legendary silent screen star Mary Pickford. Culled from the archives of silent film actor-director Albert Parker, this tremendous lot includes studio publicity stills of the silent era's First couple, both separate and together, as well as candid, behind-the-scenes photos from the making of "The Black Pirate" (1926), directed by Parker and starring Fairbanks in the title role. The "queen and king" of Hollywood, Fairbanks and Pickford were the talk of Tinseltown during the '20s and '30s. Fairbanks was the handsome, swashbuckling screen hero of the day while Pickford was the period's top leading lady. They wed in 1920 (and divorced in 1936) after hiding their relationship for three years, and quickly became a power couple in the industry. Offered is a collection of 11 photos (three autographed) of the duo, including a 10" x 13" signed publicity photo of Fairbanks; an 11" x 14" signed photo display of Pickford; a 7 1/2" x 10" of Pickford and a very tan Fairbanks, signed by both; a 4 1/2" x 6 3/4" cabinet card of Fairbanks in character; three 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" photos of fairbanks and co-star Billie Dove being directed by Parker during the shooting of "The Black Pirate"; three 8" x 10" glossy photos of Fairbanks and Parker behind the scenes of "The Black Pirate; and a 10" x 13" studio photograph of Fairbanks and Pickford circa the 1930s credited to photographer Russell Ball. Each is in very good to excellent condition; all display minor wear at the edges from handling, however none of the imperfections affect the images or signatures. Accompanied by a COA from PSA/DNA. With COA from PSA/DNA.
