    Description

The Beatles Signed Program From A Hard Day's Night Northern Premiere With Rare Royal Telegram, Royal Letter, 1964-8 X 10 Press Photo, Unused Ticket, Invitation and more. This lot contains a number of items, with the biggest one being a 44-page program from the Northern Premiere of A Hard Day's Night with its title page signed by all of the Fabs!

George Harrison wrote in blue pen ink (and inscribed "Best wishes from") while the rest signed in black pen ink. DJ (and compere for the evening's event) David Jacobs signed on the 13th page with a blue ink pen below a picture of him.

Held at the Odeon Cinema in Liverpool on July 10, 1964, the Fab Four also played that night. The program -- held together by ties -- measures 8 ½" x 11" and is in Very Good condition. There is considerable wear along the edges, as well as some creasing, not bad for being 57 years old.

Also included is a 4 ½" x 8" telegram sent from Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace to Alec Tunnington, wishing the premiere to be a success. The copy is in Very Good condition with a tear on the left side, toning, and wear. And there is a signed 7 ½" x 9 ½" letter from Buckingham Palace, hand-signed by James Orr (Prince Philip's secretary) with a thin blue felt tip. Dated October 8, 1964, Orr thanks for sending the brochure and "a copy of the accounts of the Beatles' Premiere." In Very Good Plus condition with horizontal fold marks through.

Next is is a ticket for the reception signed and inscribed by Cavern Club DJ Bob Wooler. Signed in black pen ink on the verso, there are several other signatures on both sides of the ticket. Measures 3 ½" x 5 ¼". In Very Good condition with toning. This piece comes with an LOA from Paul Wane at Tracks, Ltd.

Lot also comes an unused ticket for the event (which is in Very Good condition), as well as an invitation from the Lord Mayor and Mayoress of Liverpool for a reception at the Town Hall from 7-8 pm on July 10. In Very Good Plus condition, the invitation measures 6" x 4 ¾" and features an embossed stamp in the upper center portion.

And lastly, there are six pictures of the Fabs before, during, and after the event, including an 8" x 10" press photo with paper snipes and "Liverpool Daily" ink stamp on the verso, four black and white 5" x 5" photos and one 6" x 4" color photo. Overall, in Very Good Plus condition with some discoloration and soiling on the verso. The largest photo has stamps and adhered descriptions on the verso.

Lot comes with a full-page LOA from the consignor, detailing how he acquired the program. COAs from Frank Caiazzo and Heritage Auctions.
