    Description

Playboy #1 Signed by Hugh Hefner (HMH Publishing, 1953) Qualified NM 9.4 with White Pages. Here is the only newsstand copy of the premiere issue to be certified in a grade this high with white pages and signed by Playboy founder Hugh Hefner! This copy is from collector Robert Shauer's CGC-designated 2012 Best Magazine Set: Playboy - Volume 1. Playboy #1's relatively low print run is evident in the numbers of high-grade copies available today. CGC has certified a mere 300 copies of the newsstand version to date in any grade, with a scant five copies earning grades of 9.4 or better. And no other copy boasts both the white pages and the Hugh Hefner autograph seen here. CGC notes, "Hugh Hefner written on cover in marker."

The legendary issue was put together by Hefner on a shoestring budget, without his knowing whether there would even be a second issue. But his brilliant choice in selecting Marilyn Monroe to star on the cover and on the "Sweetheart of the Month" poster inside ensured that there would be not only a second issue; it became the genesis for a worldwide Playboy publishing and entertainment empire.

The magazine's successful format was established with the first issue: beautiful women and a perfect balance of fiction from renowned writers, timely articles on sports, entertainment, fashion, food, and cars, and humor from the finest cartoonists of the day.

It all started in 1953 with the first issue of Playboy, and this copy appears to have just rolled off the 1953 press! Authenticated by Beckett and Lamplighter Appraisals. COA from Heritage Auctions.

The movie quite literally changed my life. I have included a pic of me in Sly's Rocky 3 Cashmere overcoat, would much appreciate if it is possible for you to forward this email to Sly to let him know the overcoat is in good hands, and will be well taken care of, (as will be the Rambo knife forging tools, the other lot I won!) Wish you very happy holidays and a great 2016!
