Orson Welles Chimes at Midnight Sketch (1965). An actual costume/staging design created by Welles for the film's legendary battle scene. The 1965 film was made by the film, TV, and radio legend, who wrote, directed, and starred in the film. As one of a series of wash and watercolor costume design sketches for the film, this is incredibly rare. Was exhibited at the Royal Palace in Palermo and published in the accompanying catalog. From the estate of Prince Alessandro Tasca di Cutò, who had a multi-decade personal and professional relationship with Welles. This is actually the only remaining Chimes of Midnight sketch as all the others were acquired by the University of Michigan. Framed in glass and matted to an overall 14" x 20".
