Johnny & The Hurricanes + Many Others 1960 Toledo, OH Concert Poster. An original 1960 advertising window card for the "Juke Box Stars Magazine Parade" caravan tour, stopping on this occasion in Toledo, Ohio on Tuesday, May 3, 1960. A rare four-color cardboard concert poster that we've never seen before.

Johnny & the Hurricanes could be considered one-big-hit wonders, as their "Red River Rock" was a Top 5 pop hit the previous year. But they sure were busy in 1960, placing five singles on Billboard magazine's pop singles chart that year alone, including the Top 20 "Beatnik Fly" - mentioned at the bottom of the poster.

This was surely a small-budget tour light on the big hits, but perhaps with big appeal to those who love trivia and rare singles by marginal recording artists. A quick look at each musician, the song given by their name and the Billboard position it reached:

Rod Lauren - a Top 40 hit, his only charting record ever
Carl Dobkins, Jr. - a Top 25 hit, but he had enjoyed a #3 smash the year before with "My Heart Is an Open Book"
Gary Stites - a Top 50 hit, his fourth & last charting single
Dick Caruso - never charted anything
Johnny Restivo - only reached #80 (and he was only 15 years old), his only charting record ever
Danny Valentino - only reached #95, his only charting record ever
Nickey DeMatteo - only reached #90, his only charting record ever
Harold Dorman - a Top 25 hit, his only charting record ever

Measures 22" x 28" and grades to Near Mint Minus condition. Bumped upper right and lower right corners which knocked off a little paper, and toning around all four edges on the verso, but otherwise in gem shape. COA from Heritage Auctions.
