    Description

Jerry Lee Lewis 1962 Liverpool, England Concert Poster.
A charmingly original poster design with bright Day-Glo red-orange letters jumping out from an otherwise B&W concert poster for "The Killer," Jerry Lee Lewis. "Bob Wooler Presents," it says, referring to the original Cavern Club DJ who was a super-close associate of the Beatles in their early days, and whose estate this poster comes from. "Thursday, May 17, 7:30 PM" at the Tower Ballroom, right outside of Liverpool city limits and yes, a place the Fabs played many times.

In fact, none other than Ringo Starr sat in as the drummer for the Echoes, Jerry Lee's backing group, for this performance. (But remember, he wasn't a Beatle yet.)

An original large paper concert poster for one of America's founding fathers of rock 'n' roll, landing smack dab in Liverpool England, in the same month the future of rock 'n' roll signed a recording contract with EMI Records. Could the baton-passing possibly be any more synchronized?

This poster was printed using Day-Glo florescent inks, which really stand out in broad daylight. And then those inks take on a whole new appearance under a blacklight, those purple tube-lights that became all the rage in head shops and hippie pads in the late Sixties. Check out the additional photo of this poster under a blacklight; it adds quite a wow factor, the way Lewis's name just explodes off the keyboard - very befitting for him.

Like most UK concert posters of the era, this thin-paper poster measures 20x30" and is in Very Good condition with a bit of benign folding throughout, a toning strip running down the lower left-hand side, foxing on the right side and moisture stains on the bottom left side.
