Ian McKellan "Gandalf the White" screen-used hero Wizard's Staff from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. (New Line, 2001-2003) "Gandalf" (Ian McKellan) is perhaps the most beloved character in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth and has come to symbolize that fictional universe more than any other. In The Fellowship of the Ring, "Gandalf the Grey" carried an old wooden staff that was lost when "Saruman" captured him. After Gandalf's escape he acquired a new staff, which was lost when he was slain in Khazad-dum battling the Balrog. In The Two Towers, Gandalf is resurrected as "Gandalf the White" with a new white staff adorned with an intricate and meticulously styled crown that possessed a great power. This magical Wizard's Staff functioned as Gandalf's chief weapon alongside his sword, "Glamdring". This wood and resin hero prop White Staff was handmade and painted by the skilled craftsman at Weta Workshop during early production work on The Lord of the Rings and shows additional wear along it's length from extensive handling on-set. This immediately recognizable prop was originally shipped from Weta Workshop in New Zealand to official New Line Cinema licensee, United Cutlery for reference use in producing collectible replica versions for fans across the world. Measuring 71 in. long, this prop was designed by Alan Lee and created by Simon Hames under the art direction of Sir Richard Taylor at Weta Workshop. Accompanied by a detailed Certificate of Authenticity from the licensee confirming the history of this prop and its use in creating United Cutlery's The Lord of the Rings Weapons and Armor line of reproductions as well as the original Weta shipping label to United Cutlery. Special shipping arrangements will apply.
