    Description

Game of Thrones Daenerys Targaryen, Jorah and Dragons Concept Drawing (HBO, 2011). One of the most important scenes in the Game of Thrones is when it's revealed that Daenerys Targaryen is the true Mother of Dragons. This is an original concept drawing of that moment as the fire from Khal Drogo's funeral pyre dies out to reveal the Khaleesi unburnt and her baby dragons hatched. It is the work of renowned storyboard and concept artist William Simpson who is responsible for much of the early visual development of HBO's wildly successful serial adaptation of George R. R. Martin's book series A Song of Ice and Fire. The masterfully rendered graphite image of a stunned Jorah approaching Daenerys and her dragons amongst the smoldering rubble is on 16.5" x 11.75" Bristol board and is signed in the lower right corner. The artist has written a brief description of scene on the back of the drawing and added a second signature. This one-of-a-kind early concept drawing depicts a key defining moment in the development of one of the lead characters in the Game of Thrones series. The piece shows handling, minor edge wear and condition is Very Good. COA from Heritage Auctions.
