Elvis Presley and Love Me Tender Co-Stars Signed Letter To RCA Executive Steve Sholes (1956). Steve Sholes was the A&R man at RCA Records who famously signed Elvis to the label in late 1955, which set the stage for Elvis gaining national and international prominence shortly thereafter, and he also went on to produce a number of hit singles for the King. Here is a typewritten letter on Twentieth Century Fox letterhead from Elvis to Sholes dated August 12, 1956 while Elvis was in Hollywood making his first film Love Me Tender (which still had the working title "The Reno Brothers.") It reads: Dear Steve: Colonel Parker and I both enjoyed receiving your letter and clippings. We were particularly interested in getting the local picture with you so clearly describe. We do hope that when you talk to Mr. Bienstock and Mrs. Gore you will tell them that we all said "Hello". Again we are working on some changes made for the "Reno's" but I do not see any unexpected difficulties. It is more a thrill to me than for anyone else to work with such great actors. All best wishes to all of you from Colonel Parker, the "Gang" and myself. Sincerely, Elvis Presley. Elvis has signed in blue ink, as have the co-stars from the film Debra Paget and Richard Egan (who inscribed "For Steve, Best Wishes".) As was customary, Sholes initialed the letter at the bottom (in pencil), and it was given an RCA stamp noting that it had been read and was ready to be filed. In Very Good condition, with original fold lines visible and measuring 10" x 7.5", mounted with a later color photo of Elvis, in a gold frame measuring 23" x 17". COA from Rich Consola. COA from Heritage Auctions.
