    Buddy Holly and the Crickets - Norman Petty Signed Contract for Florida Engagement (1957). A General Artists Corporation contract dated December 5, 1957 for a run of concerts to be performed by Buddy Holly and the Crickets, for which the band would be paid a total of $4000.00, signed and initialed on behalf of Buddy Holly by the band's manager, the famed Norman Petty. According to the rider, stapled the the left edge of the front of the contract, the shows would take place in various Florida cities from February 20 - 25, 1958. Includes a letter on General Artists Corp. letterhead addressed to the Florida musicians union, dated January 7, 1958, informing the recipient of the inclusion of a contract for the Jacksonville concert date. Contract - measures 8.5" x 11", in Very Good condition, with a .5" tear in the upper-middle right edge, staple holes in the top left corner, light toning at the edges, some corner and handling wear. Letter - measures 7.25" x 10.5", in Very Good condition, with a staple in the upper left corner, smoothed horizontal folds, and the word "Deceased" written and double underlined in the blue ink at the center of the page.     The contract is countersigned by Harry Smythe, who put together a "Hillbilly Rock" package for the Florida tour, which featured not only Holly and the Crickets, but Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Haley & His Comets, Jimmie Rodgers - he of "Honeycomb" fame, not the "Singing Brakeman" - and the Everly Brothers. Oh boy!
