    Aretha Franklin/Staple Singers Howard Hi School Concert Poster (H. Nash Presentation, 1960). Rare. Oversized window card printed in a split fountain design on card stock. for a show in Chatanooga, TN on Monday, April 4: "Something Different, Preaching and Singing... Rev. C.L. Franklin and his daughter Aretha Franklin of Detroit, Staple Singers of Chicago" and "Miss Sammie Bryant The Little Lady With The Big Voice". printed by "Southern Poster Printing Co., Atlanta, GA.". Measures 22" x 28". In Very Good condition with wear and smudges in various spots, wear commensurate with age. Also has surface scratching and creasing throughout and a 1" tear on the bottom right side

    This striking and important poster shows eighteen year old Aretha Franklin touring with her father, the Rev. C.L. Franklin. She is at a pivotal moment in her career. Although a success on the gospel music circuit Franklin decided that she wanted to record pop music. Her father allowed her to travel to New York and she signed with Columbia Records and her career blossomed.
