Description
An Ernest Borgnine Cap from "McHale's Navy." ABC Television, 1962-1966. Traditional design, tan cotton, once-black elastic trim (now faded to a tannish-gold color), black leather visor, gold-thread Navy emblem affixed to front, inside leather band stamped in part "Adam / First Name in Hats and Sportswear;" worn by the star as "Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale" throughout the run of his hit comedy series; interestingly, Borgnine was nominated for an Emmy in 1963 for 'Outstanding Continued Performance by an Actor in a Series (Lead)' for this role though sadly, he lost to E.G. Marshall from the CBS series, "The Defenders;" included is an oversized color image depicting Borgnine and co-stars Tim Conway and Joe Flynn, mounted to a board stamped in part on the verso "Eastman Dye Transfer / Print /...May 30, 1964" which was used as the cover of the May 30 - June 5, 1964 issue of "TV Guide." (Please note the hat is in heavily worn and used condition with sweat stains on the inside lining; the photograph is in poor condition with part of the mat board missing from the back.)Photograph: 15" x 12"
Included with a Letter of Provenance signed by Nancee Borgnine and Cris Borgnine, Ernest's children.
