A James Cagney Address Book, 1940s-1970s. Kept for the actor by Nora Helm, his longtime secretary of over 40 years; a black leather-bound 2-ring binder, dating from the early 1940s, filled with alphabet tabs (though some are missing) and pages of names, addresses, and phone numbers of professional and personal associates of the actor (typed and handwritten) including those of (in alphabetical order): Jean Arthur, Lew Ayres, Ralph Bellamy, William Bendix, Edgar Bergen, Humphrey Bogart, Charles Boyer, The Brown Derby, George Burns, Frank Capra, Jerry Colonna, Bing Crosby, George Cukor, Olivia De Havilland, Barry Fitzgerald, John Ford, Eddie Foy, Kay Francis, Garden of Allah, Jackie Gleason, Cary Grant, The Hollywood Canteen, Bob Hope, Hedda Hopper, Burl Ives, Victor Jory, The Knickerbocker Hotel, Bert Lahr, Ring Lardner, Jr., Peter Lorre, Fredric March, Herbert Marshall, Zeppo Marx, Adolph Menjou, Robert Montgomery, Frank Morgan, Audie Murphy, Lloyd Nolan, Clifford Odets, Louella Parsons, Mary Pickford, Dick Powell, Romanoff's, Rosalind Russell, William Saroyan, Schwab's, The Screen Actors Guild, Myron Selznick, Frank Sinatra, Spencer Tracy, Dalton Trumbo, Variety Magazine, Victory Committee, Hal Wallis, Raoul Walsh, Clifton Webb, and Jane Wyman, among countless others -- overall, a fascinating look at who Cagney knew and where he went during the Golden Era of Hollywood! (Please note there is water staining on all pages but it's mostly along the bottom margin so contents are still legible.)
