Description

Masudaya UFO X05, Space Ranger No.5, & OK Toys Space Ship DB-2 (Triangle Pattern) Battery-Operated Tin Flying Saucers with Original Boxes (Masudaya / OK Toys, 1967-70s). This three-piece grouping brings together two Masudaya flying saucers and an OK Toys Space Ship DB-2, spanning late-1960s to 1970s Japanese and Hong Kong space toy production. The OK Toys Space Ship DB-2 is the triangle-pattern variation, a plastic battery-operated saucer with bold red, white, and blue geometric graphics surrounding a large clear dome and chrome silver pilot, documented in period advertising from late 1967. The Masudaya UFO X05 is the starfield-decorated tin saucer with rectangular colored light lenses encircling the domed cockpit and a gold astronaut figure, a later Masudaya design featured in company catalogs. Completing the lot is the Masudaya Space Ranger No. 5, a NASA-branded tin saucer with white and blue lithography, USA flag markings, and a domed astronaut pilot, reflecting Masudaya's continued use of American space program imagery into the early 1970s. Surface wear, scuffing, scratches, and paint loss are visible across all three saucers, with scattered oxidation to exposed tin components on the Masudaya examples. Clear plastic domes show surface scratching but no obvious cracks. The OK Toys DB-2 shows handling wear to the plastic body and dome. Battery compartments show signs of use and moderate oxidation. Original boxes show moderate to significant wear, including creasing, edge and corner wear, interior staining, and paper loss, though all remain intact and identifiable. These items are untested, and no guarantee can be made regarding their working conditions. A strong opportunity to acquire three boxed flying saucers spanning two influential makers.
