Description

Transformers G1 Megatron with Rubsign AFA Q85 **POP 1, Highest Grade ** (Hasbro, 1984). Megatron was introduced in 1984 as part of the very first wave of Transformers, establishing himself immediately as the ruthless leader of the Decepticons. In toy form, he converted from a Walther P38 pistol into a robot armed with a stock, silencer, and scope, making him one of the most complex and distinctive designs of the early line. This example features the heat-sensitive rubsign on the figure, introduced in 1985 as a hallmark of Generation 1 authenticity and a feature that remains one of the most nostalgic details of the line. As one of the first versions of Megatron sold at retail, the figure represents a cornerstone of Transformers collecting and one of the most iconic villains in toy history. This example has been preserved in acrylic and graded AFA Q85 NM+ with subgrades of B80 W85 F85. The Qualified designation reflects that the box has been opened, though the figure is complete with all original accessories accounted for. A certificate of authenticity accompanies the piece to confirm its completeness, making it an appealing choice for collectors who value both verification and presentation. For fans and collectors, Megatron stands as the embodiment of the Decepticon cause, cunning, powerful, and unforgettable. Even in Qualified status, a complete Series 1 Megatron with rubsign offers a rare opportunity to acquire a foundational piece of the franchise. It is both a symbol of Hasbro and Takara's early engineering ingenuity and a cultural icon whose presence continues to loom large nearly forty years later.
