Description

Star Wars TPM Darth Maul 1:6 Scale Figure Paint Master (Hasbro, 1998). From the collection of Brian Wilk, this 1:6 scale paint master represents Darth Maul as developed for Hasbro's The Phantom Menace program in advance of the film's 1999 release. Maul's striking red-and-black facial tattoos, crown of horns, and Sith robes made him one of the most visually arresting new characters of the prequel era, and his translation into twelve-inch format emphasized both the intricacy of the makeup design and the layered textile costuming that defined his on-screen presence. Offered here is the production paint master head paired with the corresponding large-scale body and soft goods garments. The head is hand-painted, serving as the reference standard for factory application of Maul's complex tattoo pattern and eye detailing. The figure retains its fabric robes and costume elements, reflecting the intended finished presentation, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. As a hand-painted developmental reference originating from Brian Wilk's personal holdings, this paint master documents the approval stage behind one of the prequel trilogy's most iconic character designs.

More Information: Brian Wilk is a veteran toy and game designer and inventor who spent more than 25 years at Hasbro, ultimately rising to the role of Vice President of Product Development for the company's games division. Joining the company around 1999 following a team consolidation, Wilk held a succession of senior leadership positions across several of Hasbro's most recognizable global brands, serving as Design Director for major action figure lines including Transformers, Star Wars, and Spider-Man, with particularly notable influence on the Star Wars brand during the mid-to-late 2000s. Later in his tenure, he transitioned to the Playskool division, focusing on pre-school product development before moving into executive leadership within Hasbro's games portfolio, and he has since gone on to co-found WilkStudio, an independent invention and design firm.

The head remains separate from the body and exhibits minor paint loss at a high point on the nose.
