Description

Star Wars POTF2 Yoda 1:6 Scale Figure Paint Master (Hasbro, 1998). From the archive of former Hasbro Design Director Brian Wilk comes this production paint master for the 12-inch Yoda figure, developed during the expanded Power of the Force II era. The 12-inch Yoda translated the Jedi Master's Dagobah appearance into large-scale format at a time when Hasbro was broadening the brand's collector footprint beyond the standard 3.75-inch line. The late-1990s 12-inch assortment revisited core original trilogy characters with updated sculpting and fabric costuming, offering a more display-oriented interpretation of the saga's most iconic figures. Yoda, central to The Empire Strikes Back and emblematic of the Force's philosophical core, remained a natural anchor within that larger-scale initiative. This example represents the finalized hand-painted reference used to guide factory color application and finishing, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Paint masters occupy a critical stage in development, serving as the definitive visual template before full production begins. As the approved standard for coloration and detail placement, such pieces bridge the gap between sculpt and retail release. Pre-production materials from the POTF2 expansion era continue to resonate with collectors who appreciate the design and decision-making process behind modern Star Wars lines, and this example's preservation within Wilk's retained materials further underscores its direct connection to that period of creative oversight.

More Information: Brian Wilk is a veteran toy and game designer and inventor who spent more than 25 years at Hasbro, ultimately rising to the role of Vice President of Product Development for the company's games division. Joining the company around 1999 following a team consolidation, Wilk held a succession of senior leadership positions across several of Hasbro's most recognizable global brands, serving as Design Director for major action figure lines including Transformers, Star Wars, and Spider-Man, with particularly notable influence on the Star Wars brand during the mid-to-late 2000s. Later in his tenure, he transitioned to the Playskool division, focusing on pre-school product development before moving into executive leadership within Hasbro's games portfolio, and he has since gone on to co-found WilkStudio, an independent invention and design firm.
