Description
Star Wars Legacy Collection Green Leader's A-Wing Fighter Reference Sample (Hasbro, 2008). This complete, sealed Reference Sample is from the collection of Derryl DePriest, and represents the 2008 Legacy Collection release of Green Leader's A-Wing Fighter with Arvel Crynyd. Issued during the blue-and-white packaging phase of the line, the vehicle revisited the Rebel starfighter as seen in Return of the Jedi, including the updated cockpit noted on the packaging and a pilot figure of Arvel Crynyd. Affixed to the box is a factory "REFERENCE SAMPLE" label identifying the item as "SW A-WING VEHICLE W/ ARVEL CRYND," dated 5/21/2008, with internal production notations. Such samples were retained for internal review, engineering reference, or archival purposes and were not part of standard retail distribution channels. Reference samples tied to specific dated production windows provide a direct link to Hasbro's internal development process, offering collectors an authenticated example of the product as it moved through final production stages.More Information: Derryl DePriest is a longtime toy industry executive and pop culture historian who served as Vice President of Global Brand Management at Hasbro from 2001 to 2018, overseeing major initiatives for Star Wars and G.I. Joe during a transformative era for collector-focused product. During his tenure, Hasbro launched key lines including The Vintage Collection and the 6-inch Star Wars: The Black Series, both of which reshaped modern action figure presentation and articulation standards. A lifelong G.I. Joe enthusiast and recognized liaison between Hasbro and the collector community, DePriest later authored Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Archive Edition and has contributed extensively to documenting the history of G.I. Joe. Items offered from his collection reflect the perspective of an executive who helped guide some of the most influential collector-driven brands of the modern era.
