Description

Star Wars Boba Fett First Shot Peach Head Figure AFA 40 (Kenner, 1982). By the early 1980s, Star Wars had become an unstoppable force, shaping pop culture and revolutionizing the toy industry. Kenner's action figure line was at the forefront of this movement, allowing fans to bring their favorite characters to life. But before these figures hit store shelves, they went through an extensive preproduction process, where prototypes-known as first shots-were created to test molds, assembly, and paint applications. Among these rare developmental artifacts is the Star Wars Boba Fett First Shot Peach Head figure, a fascinating relic from the Kenner toy line that showcases an early step in the production of one of the franchise's most iconic bounty hunters. The figure was produced in 1982 in Hong Kong as part of the move to a new factory.

This preproduction first shot offers a unique insight into Kenner's design and manufacturing process. Unlike standard first shots, which were often unpainted, this Boba Fett prototype features a fully painted body, complete with a dark green chest and traditional armor details, while the head remains an unpainted peach test pull. This striking contrast highlights the production refinements that took place before the final retail release. First shot figures like this were never intended for public sale, serving instead as internal factory samples for evaluation and approval. Many first shots lack final copyright markings and exhibit mold or paint variations, making them exceptionally rare among collectors.

This loose vintage figure features a Hong Kong (HK) COO stamp, further linking it to Kenner's production process. Notably, the top of Boba Fett's iconic rocket has broken off prior to grading and exhibits wear. It is encased in a deluxe acrylic display and graded Archival AFA 40 G, carefully preserved alongside its AFA Certificate of Authenticity, which has been authenticated by industry expert Tom Derby. A true museum-worthy piece, this figure represents a pivotal stage in the creation of one of Star Wars' most legendary action figures, solidifying its status as an exceptional piece of toy history.
