Description

World War I Doughboy Set (#629) (Remco, 1965). Remco's World War I Doughboy Set reflects the company's mid-1960s focus on large-scale military play environments, combining vehicles, artillery, and opposing forces into a single boxed assortment. Anchoring the set is a hard plastic U.S. Army Air Service SPAD XIII biplane, paired with a tank, an armored car with ammunition wagon, and a cannon designed to fire shells. Completing the battlefield tableau are soft plastic "Fighting Men" figures representing both German and American soldiers, creating a full World War I engagement scenario within one package. The box shows moderate edge scuffing and denting, with moderate corner wear including scuffing and crushing. The box face exhibits heavy scuffing and creasing, with tears above the window and at the top right corner, along with yellowing and crushing. The contents are unused and sealed within the box. The window shows mild scuffing and warping. A comprehensive mid-century military playset built around early mechanized warfare, offering aircraft, armor, artillery, and infantry in a single period-themed ensemble.
