Description
Shootin' Shell Fanner Toy Cap Gun Set with Original Packaging (Mattel, 1958-61). Introduced at the height of late-1950s Western fever, Mattel's Shootin' Shell Fanner was engineered to simulate fast-draw action with its revolving cylinder and reusable three-piece "Shootin' Shell" ammunition system. The plated Fanner 50 cap gun was designed to fire spring-loaded metal shell casings fitted with gray plastic bullet tips and adhesive-backed caps, ejecting the shells for repeat use. Paired here with its embossed brown Dura-Hyde holster, molded with classic Western scrollwork, the set reflects Mattel's push toward more realistic, feature-driven cap guns during the era. Included are six metal casings, eleven gray bullet tips, and an open box of Greenie Stik-M-Caps, originally rated for 480 shots. The original open-window box shows moderate edge scuffing and dents, with moderate corner scuffing and crushing. Surfaces exhibit moderate scuffing, creasing, and yellowing. The contents are loose from the packaging and show use, but remain in excellent overall condition. A hallmark of Mattel's Shootin' Shell line, complete with holster, ammunition components, and period caps, a classic fast-draw set from the golden age of televised Westerns.Heritage Auctions provides detailed information when available but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
