Description

Remote Control Frankenstein (Marx, 1963). Marx's wired Frankenstein stands as a high point of early '60s monster mechanica, translating Universal's iconic creation into a living-room automaton that walks, bows, and "grabs" on command. With its spring-bellows shoulders, green hands, and squared shoes, the figure reflects the era's blend of Japanese battery toy engineering and American character licensing. Released at the height of the TV-horror boom, it captures the moment when classic monsters moved from the screen into interactive play, becoming centerpieces of a generation's imagination. The figure shows moderate wear consistent with age and use, including surface scuffing and paint wear throughout, particularly to the black body and green extremities. The plastic shoulder boots are present, with the example under the right arm beginning to separate from the body. The wired hand controller is included, with visible wear to the housing and cord, and the battery compartment shows age but remains intact. A defining crossover of mechanical toy design and Universal horror, this lurching Frankenstein remains one of the most recognizable battery-operated monsters of the era, still ready to rise when called upon.
