Description

Official Ben-Hur Carded Figures & Horses Set (Marx, 1959). Issued to coincide with the monumental 1959 MGM epic, Marx's Ben-Hur toys brought the film's chariot-racing spectacle to the toy aisle with an instantly recognizable palette of horses, figures, and accessories. Known for their durability and dramatic presentation, these sets offered young fans a way to recreate the Circus Maximus at home, complete with stylized artwork that echoed the grandeur of the movie's production design. Today, they stand as evocative artifacts of both Marx's mid-century output and one of Hollywood's most celebrated historical epics. The cardback shows heavy wear throughout, including substantial edge scuffing, dents, and heavily softened corners. Surface wear is similarly heavy, with pronounced scuffing, creasing, staining, waviness, and curling from age and handling. The item remains mint on card, though the bubble shows moderate scuffing, cracking in some areas, and lifting at the top corners. For collectors of Marx, classic cinema tie-ins, or early licensed historical playsets, this Ben-Hur carded release offers a visually striking slice of late-1950s toy merchandising. Its dramatic artwork, period molding, and unmistakable presentation make it a worthy addition to any collection celebrating the intersection of Hollywood spectacle and American toy history.
