Description
Noble Knights Store Display (Marx, 1960s). This original countertop display was produced to promote Marx's The Noble Knights line, a medieval-themed action figure series that capitalized on mid-1960s interest in chivalric adventure and televised swashbuckling. Constructed of printed cardboard, the display features brickwork graphics and illustrated banners advertising Sir Gordon, the Golden Knight, and Sir Stuart, the Silver Knight, along with illustrated weaponry and accessories. This example retains both figures mounted to the display base: Sir Gordon (Gold Knight) presented on horseback, and Sir Stuart (Silver Knight) displayed on foot. The Gold Knight exhibits a broken left leg and is likely missing his gloves and face shield. The Silver Knight is missing one glove and his helmet. Both figures show light overall wear and remain affixed to the display board. The display itself shows substantial condition issues consistent with retail use and age. The front lip is bent and stained, and the piece exhibits significant edge and corner scuffing and crushing throughout. Surface areas show notable scuffing, creasing, and crushing across multiple panels. Despite the damage and figure losses, the display remains a scarce survivor of mid-century toy merchandising. Countertop point-of-sale pieces from Marx's Noble Knights line are seldom encountered with original figures still present, making this an evocative example of the line's original retail presentation.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection. Condition statements are offered as general guidance only, not as complete representations of fact, and do not constitute a warranty or assumption of liability by Heritage. Some condition issues may not be noted but may be visible in the photos, which are considered part of the condition report. Lots estimated at $1,000 or less are not de-framed for inspection, and we may be unable to provide additional details for lots valued under $500. Heritage does not guarantee the condition of frames and is not liable for damage to frames, glass/acrylic coverings, original boxes, display accessories, or artwork that has shifted in the frame.
