Description

Monster Scenes Giant Insect (643) Model Kit Canadian Exclusive Salesman Sample AFA 85 ** POP 1, Highest Grade ** with Monster Scenes Advertisement Proof and COA (Aurora, 1971). Aurora's Monster Scenes line is remembered as one of the most controversial toy ranges of the 1970s-kits that mixed horror, pulp, and camp in a way that thrilled kids and alarmed parents. The "Giant Insect" (Kit #643) was one of the wildest designs planned for the series, envisioned as a companion menace to Dr. Deadly. Offered here is a true piece of hobby history: a Canadian-exclusive salesman sample, factory-stamped on the underside "PROPERTY OF AURORA PLASTICS 1970 NOT FOR RESALE." This example has been graded AFA 85 NM+, the only one on record and the highest grade known. Its significance is amplified by its provenance: the piece is accompanied by an original Monster Scenes advertisement proof sheet and a Certificate of Authenticity from Collectible Investment Brokerage (CIB). The proof-style insert-prepared before full production printing-further highlights the kit's rarity and pre-production pedigree.

Supporting provenance is strong: collector correspondence from 2003 describes this kit as the centerpiece of a long-held Aurora collection, its uniqueness underscored by the factory stamp and cello-sealed presentation. Additional confirmation comes from Dennis Prince, author of Aurora Monster Scenes: The Most Controversial Toys of a Generation (2014), who personally verified the kit's legitimacy and noted its extraordinary scarcity, with only a handful rumored to have survived. This is, in short, a once-in-a-lifetime Aurora offering-an unreleased sales tool, preserved against all odds, tied directly to one of the most infamous model kit lines ever produced. For Aurora completists, Monster Scenes devotees, or collectors of toy industry rarities, the Giant Insect salesman sample is nothing less than the grail.
