Released in 1984 as the flagship of LEGO's early Castle line, King's Castle (6080) stands as one of the defining playsets of the theme's formative years. Built around a fully enclosed stone fortress with hinged walls, working gate, and modular interior access, the set marked a shift toward more immersive medieval environments supported by a large baseplate layout, multiple guard towers, and a functional drawbridge. It also introduced the Lion Knights faction in a meaningful way, with printed shields and tunics helping establish the faction identity that would carry through the line.
