Description
James Bond 007 Moonraker Space Laser Gun (Lonestar, 1979). Issued to coincide with Moonraker, the 1979 James Bond film that pushed the franchise into full science-fiction spectacle, this Lonestar Space Laser Gun reflects the late-1970s moment when espionage toys embraced futuristic form and bold design. British manufacturer Lonestar translated the film's orbital ambition into a distinctive handheld piece, marrying classic Bond gadgetry with the era's fascination for space-age weaponry. As licensed Bond toys from this period remain comparatively scarce, Moonraker-era items occupy a unique niche, equal parts cinematic curiosity and vintage toy experimentation.Condition reflects honest, age-appropriate wear consistent with an opened example. Box edges show moderate wear throughout with visible color degradation. Corners exhibit moderate wear as well, with splitting present at the flap corners, rounding and wear at all front corners, a small tear at the front bottom left corner, and soft back corners with splitting evident at the bottom back corners. Box surfaces display moderate wear, including a crease running from the front top right corner to the window, another crease extending from the middle right edge toward the window, and a bend in the cardboard near the pistol handle below the window. A wave is visible in the cardboard beneath the window, along with wear to the edge above the window and creasing on the bottom panel. The back panel shows dried tape residue along the left side and areas of staining. The clear window remains fully attached and intact. Internally, the plastic tray that holds the pistol remains fairly strong and does not appear to be breaking down from age, though there are areas of crushing most noticeable from underneath, particularly near the barrel and the sight, where a hole is present. In these stressed areas, the plastic feels more brittle. The gun itself shows significant wear to the white paint above the trigger on the side facing the window, as well as on the top door of the pistol where the caps are inserted. For collectors of vintage James Bond memorabilia, Moonraker-era toys capture the franchise at its most adventurous and unconventional. This Lonestar Space Laser Gun, presented here in open-box condition with visible use and age, remains a compelling artifact from a period when Bond merchandise leaned boldly into imagination and spectacle. It offers a tangible link to the film's distinctive place in the Bond canon and stands as an evocative survivor from the closing years of 1970s licensed toy production-an essential piece for those charting the outer limits of Bond collecting history.
