Description

Frankenstein (423-98) Model Kit AFA 85+ ** POP 2, Highest Grade ** (Aurora, 1962). Aurora's Frankenstein was the kit that started it all. First issued in 1962 under catalog number 423-98, this was the debut entry in the company's now-legendary monster model line, which brought Universal's classic creatures into the bedrooms and basements of budding monster kids everywhere. With its dramatic box art and the appeal of building your very own Boris Karloff monster, Aurora's Frankenstein became both a cultural touchstone and a cornerstone of monster merchandising. The kit ignited a craze that helped define the era of "Monster Mania" in the 1960s and remains one of the most iconic hobby kits of all time. Graded AFA 85+ NM+, this example ranks as one of the very finest known. According to the AFA Population Report, it is one of only two at this level, with none higher. The box retains its classic early "long box" format, and the grade reflects the sharp preservation of this historically significant kit. See images for further condition details. A foundational piece of both horror and hobby history, Aurora's Frankenstein is the kit that launched a phenomenon. For collectors of Universal Monsters, vintage models, or pop culture milestones, an opportunity to acquire the highest-graded example known is as rare as lightning striking the lab-an electrifying centerpiece worthy of any serious collection.
