G.I. Joe Super Joe Night Fighters Luminos & The Shield (Hasbro, 1977). This pair of original Super Joe Adventure Team Night Fighters figures-Luminos and The Shield-were released by Hasbro in 1977 as part of the final wave of the short-lived 8-inch Super Joe line. Positioned as futuristic successors to the original G.I. Joe Adventure Team, the Night Fighters introduced glow-in-the-dark features and science fiction aesthetics, pushing the brand into space-themed storytelling in the late 1970s. Both figures remain factory sealed to their original cards, but the packaging shows heavy wear throughout. The cards exhibit heavy edge and corner wear, including softened corners, visible edge rub, and significant scuffing and creasing across the card surfaces. The plastic bubbles on both figures are still securely affixed, but each bubble has noticeable dents and distortion from age and handling.

Inside the packaging, both figures have suffered from rubber deterioration, a common issue with Super Joe figures. As a result, all limbs have detached and are now loose within the bubbles, though the figures and their accessories remain complete and visible. Despite the condition issues, Night Fighters figures-especially Luminos and The Shield-are among the rarest and most visually unique characters in the Super Joe line. With limited distribution and fragile construction, surviving carded examples are seldom seen, making this a valuable opportunity for collectors of vintage Hasbro history, science fiction-themed action figures, or early G.I. Joe offshoot lines.
