Description
G.I. Joe Stalker 11-Back AFA 80+ ** POP 4, 4th-Highest Grade ** (Hasbro, 1982). As one of the original 1982 figures in the A Real American Hero launch, Stalker helped establish the line's grounded military tone from the very beginning, and this straight-arm example remains one of the key first-year representations of that early identity. The 11-Back card places it within the line's opening retail run, still firmly in the launch-era window but distinct from the even earlier 9-Back configurations, giving collectors another important stop in the fast-moving first-year packaging progression. For original-team character collectors, Stalker has always held weight as one of the foundational Joes from the brand's debut assault on toy aisles. AFA has assigned an 80+ NM overall grade with subgrades of C85 B80 F85. It sits at POP 4 on the population report, at the fourth-highest grade tier, with 12 graded higher. For collectors building out the earliest carded run of A Real American Hero, this is a strong example of one of the line's essential first-wave characters, and a sharp 1982 piece from the period when vintage G.I. Joe was still defining itself in real time.More Information: Derryl DePriest is a longtime toy industry executive and pop culture historian who served as Vice President of Global Brand Management at Hasbro from 2001 to 2018, overseeing major initiatives for Star Wars and G.I. Joe during a transformative era for collector-focused product. During his tenure, Hasbro launched key lines, including The Vintage Collection and the 6-inch Star Wars: The Black Series, both of which reshaped modern action-figure presentation and articulation standards. A lifelong G.I. Joe enthusiast and recognized liaison between Hasbro and the collector community, DePriest later authored Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Archive Edition and has contributed extensively to documenting the history of G.I. Joe. Items offered from his collection reflect the perspective of an executive who helped guide some of the most influential collector-driven brands of the modern era.
